Jason Kalman's design gifts, coupled with his business background, create a formidable force at Magni Kalman Design. A native Californian, he first embarked on a career in finance, working for multinational technology firms in the San Francisco Bay Areabefore deciding to pursue his lifelong passion for interior design. Launching his new career at the renowned Los Angeles firm of Kelly Wearstler Interior Design, Kalman soon was recruited to work with James Magni. His holistic belief that “A residence should deliver a cohesive message from the moment one drives through the gates to when one walks into the private study” helped to rapidly propel Kalman through the ranks, where he has designed and delivered wide-ranging projects up to 50,000 square feet for a high-powered clientele.
Named partner in 2016, Kalman continues to be a versatile, chameleon-like force at Magni Kalman Design, maintaining the contemporary focus and impeccability for which the firm is known. His style helps to define the company’s ethos, with rigorous refinement, subtle elegance and studied restraint. An appreciation for various cultures, eras of design and wide-spanning influences marks Kalman’s aesthetic. This philosophy has led to his inclusion in Luxe Interiors + Design’s annual Gold List, and numerous awards for his work over the years.
With his solid financial background and know-how, Kalman manages the day-to-day operations of the company, while maintaining his role as principal designer on manyof the firm’s high-profile projects. And in addition to his work in the interiors studio, he also contributes his designs and aesthetic to the offerings within the Magni Home Collection, helping to create some of its best-selling pieces.
